Jieyoung Kong received her doctorate in communication from Arizona State University in 2012. She earned her Master's in English Language Testing and in International Area Studies from Korea University. Born in South Korea, Jieyoung is a global nomad who lived in Surinam, Italy, Ethiopia, and Libya. Both her teaching and research interest goes beyond improving communication across national, ethnic and racial lines, to attend to spaces and practices where mixing and borrowing as well as gaps and incoherence emerge to give way to new possibilities in today's heightened global connectivity. She is thrilled to be part of the growing diversity in Bowling Green and WKU.
