Research

Scott's research interests lie in the intersection of religion and mass media. He has published articles in The Journal of Media and Religion and The International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Communication. His most recent research presentation to The Broadcast Education Association won first prize in the debut faculty category. He has been awarded faculty internships with The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The National Association of Television Program Executives, and the International Radio/Television Society.

Biography

Scott Clarke serves as an assistant professor in the Broadcasting Department. He has 10 years' professional experience in newspapers, radio, and television. He reported, edited news, and produced retail advertising at a daily metropolitan newspaper. He served as an announcer, news producer, and operations manager in radio. He also worked as a videographer, editor, producer, master control operator, and traffic manager in a top-50 television market. He subsequently managed campus radio and television stations and advised student media organizations for 16 years prior to coming to WKU.

 Scott received his MA in international Telecommunication and his Ph.D. in Mass Media at Michigan State University. He has previously served as an associate professor of digital media at Black Hills State University and an assistant professor of communication at Heidelberg College. He has taught various courses in media production, including writing, audio production, video production, radio production, television production, media management, web design, media law, and media ethics. He has considerable experience in curricular design and higher education program assessment.
