I am currently one of the band directors at South Warren in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I teach 6th -12th grade at the middle school and high school as well as several elementary schools along with my colleague and friend, Chris Cecil. I am currently in my 8th year here and honestly cannot believe the time has gone by so quickly!
I pursued both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at WKU and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the WKU Bands. The experiences I had at WKU most certainly prepared me for my career as a band director. The opportunities I had -- whether that was in ensembles, classes, or in leadership positions, especially as a Graduate Assistant -- gave me some experience in that role before I was out in the "real world," which was invaluable to me. Most importantly though, the relationships I built with my friends and my professors helped develop a support network I could rely on for knowledge and encouragement. The people I met at WKU continually inspire me! I absolutely loved my time at WKU and treasure the people I met, the experiences I had, the knowledge I gained, and the memories I made. I can honestly say without a doubt I would not be the musician, teacher, or person I am today if it were not for my time at WKU.
