Ogden College Diversity Statement

Ogden College of Science & Engineering affirms its commitment to the WKU Mission by preparing students of all backgrounds to be productive, engaged, and socially responsible citizen-leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It also affirms its commitment to support faculty and staff from under-represented groups.

We believe that at least three factors are essential for these goals:

Diversity refers to the variety of personal experiences, values, and worldviews that originate from differences of culture and circumstance. These differences include, but are not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, gender identity and expression, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and geographic region.

Inclusion is about a sense of belonging. It follows from being valued, being able to contribute cooperatively, and by having a voice in shaping the actions of the organization.

Equity refers to the fair and respectful treatment of all. Equity is a process that begins by acknowledging differences in access to opportunity. Building pathways to opportunity is essential for equity.

At Ogden College of Science and Engineering, we aspire to foster diversity and inclusion through our efforts to recruit and support a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. We pledge to further equity by addressing and removing discriminatory obstacles to resources and opportunities that hinder our members from realizing the full potential of their individual talents and ambitions.

Ogden College of Science & Engineering is committed to providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals in accordance with the WKU Statement of Non-Discrimination.
