Webb Telescope Science Fun Day at Hardin Planetarium
- Friday, August 5th, 2022
WKU’s Hardin Planetarium will host a science fun day related to the James Webb Space Telescope on August 13.
The event is free and open to the public with activities beginning at 1 p.m. Intended for all ages, activities include simple board games for kids, paper craft, exploring thermal imaging, and image processing. A trivia game will allow guests to win prizes like Webb Telescope posters and bookmarks. The event will end by 5 p.m.
The James Webb Space Telescope marks a major step forward in our ability to explore the universe, so this event will help all audiences better understand the telescope and how modern astronomy is done.
Along with special events such as this, Hardin Planetarium offers free public presentations every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. The current show, Lives of the Stars, which tasks guests with pointing to stars in the sky, will run until September 1. Guests will learn about each star and learn where stars come from, what stars do all day, and how stars end. A full schedule of shows is available on the planetarium's website at www.wku.edu/hardinplanetarium.
Hardin Planetarium is located at 1501 State Street on the campus of Western Kentucky University.
