Two students, both undergraduate and graduate level, of the WKU Geography and Geology Department recently attended the Water Professionals Conference of the Kentucky/Tennessee section in Lexington, Kentucky where they represented the newly found student chapter of Western Kentucky University Water Professionals (WKUWP) in collaboration with the WKU Center for Human GeoEnvironmental Studies (CHNGES), Bowling Green Municipal Utilities (BGMU), and WKU HydroAnalytical Lab.

 The American Water Works Association (AWWA) conducts this regional conference annually at various locations within the region. The conference brings together a diverse group of water professionals within the industry, scientists, and students. The conference provided these groups an opportunity to present research; continue their operator education; visit vendor booths and exhibits; attend field excursions; as well as network and interact with professionals and research collaborators. Attendees included graduate student participant Rachel Kaiser (CHNGES; WKUWP), and undergraduate student Whitney Frost (CHNGES; WKUWP).

 These students along with other students and staff also attended the Kentucky Stormwater Association (KSA) Annual Conference in Bowling Green, Kentucky. At this event, the participants represented HydroAnalytical Laboratory, a state-certified water quality lab, and WKU Water Professionals, while discussing new and exciting opportunities with local stake holders, regional environmental remediation companies, and local governmental agencies. Attendees included graduate student participants include Rachel Kaiser (CHNGES; WKUWP), Allison Quiroga (CHNGES; WKUWP), undergraduate student Whitney Frost (CHNGES; WKUWP), and staff members Ethan Givan (CHNGES, HydroAnalytical) and Kegan McClanahan (CHNGES, HydroAnalytical).    

HydroAnalytical is a regional, state-certified academic laboratory for drinking, wastewater, and stormwater analyses. In addition to servicing industrial, commercial, and government clients, HydroAnalytical provides water quality testing to residential and private clients.
