No prior language experience is needed! ROTC students at any level of Chinese proficiency—from beginner to advanced—are welcome to apply. Everyone is encouraged to join us, no matter where you’re starting from!

Any ROTC student from any school, whether contracted or non-contracted, is eligible to apply to any Project GO program, whether domestic or overseas. For more information, please check out our webpage on eligibility.

No. We welcome applications from ROTC students enrolled as undergraduates at any U.S. college or university with an ROTC department! WKU students can also explore funding opportunities at other Project GO institutions for language programs at those schools.

Project GO participants traveling abroad must have a valid U.S. passport no later than 90 days before their departure date. Most countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. If your passport expires within the next year, you should consider applying for a new one.

Many study abroad destinations also require a student visa. Since obtaining a visa can take additional time, it's crucial to begin the passport application process immediately. Project GO programs will assist with the visa application process and cover the associated fees.

 

If you don't have a passport and plan to study abroad, we strongly recommend applying as soon as possible.

The Western Kentucky University Post Office has been designated an official Passport Acceptance Facility by the U.S. Department of State. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are now able to apply for a U.S. passport and/or passport card directly through our office.
