Our first ONE WKU Lunch and Learn is a bit longer than usual, but we have an outstanding speaker coming to campus – it’ll be worth it!

WKU is delighted to welcome Dr. Timothy K. Eatman, a distinguished educational sociologist and the inaugural dean of the Honors Living-Learning Community at Rutgers University Newark. Dr. Eatman’s research covers a wide range of topics that inspire the entire campus community to engage in civil discourse. Amid the current political and social unrest, which heightens the potential for campus conflicts, Dr. Eatman provides valuable insights on fostering intellectual and respectful dialogue. This Lunch & Learn workshop will focus on healing from the organizational trauma caused by discord.

Students are encouraged to attend as well – please spread the word!

Join us for a conversation about A Pedagogy of Kindness by Catherine Denial.

This book club is not about overhauling your entire teaching style, but rather finding manageable ways to infuse kindness into your current practices. We'll discuss practical strategies for educators to make a real difference in students' lives while also taking care of themselves. Whether you're a seasoned educator or new to the field, this book club offers valuable insights for anyone interested in fostering a more compassionate and effective learning environment. Join us as we explore how kindness can transform both our personal lives and our classrooms, one small step at a time.

Space will be limited to 15 participants and the registration deadline is September 13.

The book club will meet on the listed Fridays below from 1:00 – 2:30pm

Friday, September 27, October 11, October 25, and November 15
