Quality Matters
Quality Matters
Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review rubric-based process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. QM is a leader in quality assurance for online education and has received national recognition for its peer-based approach and continuous improvement in online education and student learning.
What is the QM Rubric?

eight general standards that define quality expectations for the basic design of an
online or blended course. The general standards cover:
- The Course Overview and Introduction
- Learning Objectives and Competencies
- Assessment and Measurement
- Instructional Materials
- Learner Interaction and Engagement
- Course Technology
- Learner Support
- Accessibility
Quality Matters at WKU
As part of our continuous effort to improve the quality of our online and blended
courses, WKU subscribes to Quality Matters, Inc. The subscription allows WKU to provide
QM training to faculty that wish to improve the design of their online and blended
course. This training is in a variety of formats including workshops and professional
learning communities. Following the training, faculty may choose to submit their course
for a QM Review. Successful completion of the QM Review provides faculty the opportunity
to display the QM quality certification seal in their course.
