This Monday, the WKU English department held its English Salon, a student-led, informal event designed to help students connect with each other amidst the pandemic. Participants shared recommendations of their favorite books, songs, movies, video games, and other forms of media.
“The English Salons are a place where you can talk about what you want, with people who want to hear it,” said Lizzy Roth, one of the events’ co-hosts. “It’s not only a place for people to talk about what they love, but also a place to meet new people and get more involved with the English department as a whole.”
Although it was held by the English department, the Salon welcomed all majors to participate and both share their passions and discover new ones.
“I really enjoyed connecting with other English majors and people outside the major who are passionate for different kinds of media,” said Kayla Spears, one attendee of the event. “It was so cool to see their excitement and made me want to explore what they shared.”
The list of recommendations made at the Salon can be found here. For updates on the next English Salon date and other events within the English department, visit the English department website and social media pages.
