Inaugural WKU Young Writers' Conference


The WKU English Department and English professor Dr. Tom C. Hunley will host the Inaugural WKU Young Writers' Conference, a creative writing workshop. Rising high school juniors and seniors interested in creative writing are invited to register for the workshop, where they will work closely with WKU faculty and graduate students while learning to write and critique three types of creative writing: poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. 

In addition to generative and critique workshops, participants will attend craft lectures, public readings by WKU faculty and students, and an end-of-conference awards ceremony. 

The conference will take place on WKU's campus, and will be from July 13-17. Tuition for the conference is $250, or $200 if paid in full by June 1.

A statement of parental consent is required upon registration, in the case of injury and/or if the department wants to use photos/video of participants on our website/social media. Please bring the completed forms with you upon arrival at the conference. They can be accessed below:

Dr. Tom C. Hunley has been a professor at WKU since 2003, and has taught a variety of creative writing and poetry courses.
