Instead of relying solely on traditional discussion boards to foster community and engage students in critical thinking, consider integrating the social annotation tool Hypothesis. Hypothesis facilitates collaborative annotation of digital texts, allowing students to develop foundational academic skills such as close reading and persuasive writing. In this session, the Hypothesis team will share pedagogical best practices for social annotation, demonstrate how Hypothesis is used within Blackboard, including how to set up annotation assignments, and provide some simple assignments you can use in your course to start using Hypothesis this semester.
