Instructional Technology Tool Micro-Grant
The Instructional Technology Tool Micro-Grant is meant to support faculty in the experimentation of instructional technology use and integration in their teaching and learning practices. While not meant to sustain long-term use, this micro-grant provides faculty with yearlong access to a tool so that they can accumulate data points that could be used to support a request for tool procurement to their academic department.
Examples of supported instructional technologies might include: Padlet for student engagement, NearPod to create engaging course content, Mentimeter for student engagement within live presentations, MagicSchool.AI for AI generation, etc.
Faculty will be awarded up to $250 towards the procurement of a 1-year subscription/purchase of the instructional technology tool. This disbursement will be directly to the tool provider, when possible.
Grant availability is based upon current funding levels.
All faculty and instructors are eligible to apply who will be teaching in the next academic year.
To receive funding, the faculty will:
- Be scheduled to teach multiple courses for the coming academic year.
- Have a letter of support from the department head indicating a commitment to teaching assignments for the next year (for part-time faculty applicants).
- Submit the micro-grant application which indicates the necessity of this tool.
- Agree to lead a 30-minute session or participate in a panel regarding the results of the tool use and the impact on teaching and learning.
As this grant is not designed to sustain long-term use, the grant is not eligible for renewal. If a faculty member is interested in exploring an additional tool, they must wait an academic year before applying again.
