WKU Housing & Residence Life Wins International Marketing Award

The Western Kentucky University Department of Housing & Residence Life won the first place ACUHO-I Marketing Award in the overall campaign category during the 2022 Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I)Business Operations conference, which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana, September 19-22.
The award is presented to a housing department that creates a series of advertisement messages that share a single idea and theme which make up an integrated marketing and communication campaign. Nationwide marketing and communications practitioners outside the current university housing community judge entries based on their individual merit using a scoring matrix.
The award-winning campaign focused on maintenance and air quality communication and marketing to on-campus residents. Marketing pieces included branded thermostat stickers promoting best practices for HVAC units, a detailed maintenance request process poster featuring Big Red in a hard hat and tool belt, an NFC tag keychain that provides students a direct link to key housing webpages and resources, and room inspection cards that were placed in each room and signed by a staff member upon inspection before move in. Each item was intentionally designed to promote maintenance best practices and processes.
