WKU Housing & Residence Life Presents Resolution of Appreciation and Service Award at SEAHO

During the business meeting of the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) annual conference in Huntsville, AL on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Western Kentucky University Housing & Residence Life (HRL) presented a Resolution of Appreciation to Ginny Hensley, former WKU Parent & Family Engagement Coordinator. Dr. Marcus Silver, WKU Director of Residence Life, presented the resolution to those in attendance, which states,
“WHEREAS Ginny Hensley served SEAHO and her beloved Western Kentucky University for 27 years.
WHEREAS Ginny served in many professional and leadership roles during her tenure at Western Kentucky University, including Special Events Coordinator for Public Affairs, Phonathon Coordinator, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Director of Alumni Engagement Programs and Coordinator of Parent and Family Engagement Programs.
WHEREAS Ginny’s work throughout her career impacted students, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and family of the university. She led humbly with grace and diligence, and she never passed an opportunity to mentor new professionals.
WHEREAS colleagues within Western Kentucky University and the SEAHO network appreciate Ginny’s years of service. As she approaches retirement (Spring 2025), some of the thoughts expressed included “Her presence is felt by her ability to connect with a wide range of audiences and problem solve. Plainly, she is a doer, gets the job done and makes everyone around her a better individual.”
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Governing Council of the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers, on behalf of its membership, wishes to express its sincerest appreciation and highest esteem to the legacy of Ginny Hensley for her contributions to Western Kentucky University.”
Additionally, Kirsten Hooks, HRL Assistant Director for First Year Programs, was presented with a SEAHO Service Award. Each year, each SEAHO member institution may submit one person from its staff to receive the award. The awards are intended to offer the institution an opportunity to recognize a staff person who has made significant contribution to residence hall students and the housing organization.
Dr. Catherine LaRoche, WKU Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Executive Director of Housing & Residence Life, nominated Kirsten for the award and shared, “Kirsten Hooks is very deserving of a SEAHO Service Award. She has been an invaluable member on the WKU Housing and Residence Life team. Her dedication and willingness to step up during times of transition have ensured the department’s continued success. Kirsten has gone above and beyond to foster a positive and supportive environment for our students, helping them navigate challenges and connect with resources. Her creative ideas, exceptional problem-solving skills, and positive attitude have truly enriched the student experience and the overall environment within Housing and Residence Life. We are happy Kirsten was recognized last week for her leadership and service at WKU by SEAHO."
